After a very public dispute with Kanye West, Kid Cudi reveals that a genuine apology was all it took to repair the relationship between the two.
The ongoing feuds involving Kanye West and his close collaborators have been observed throughout his career. One of the recent disagreements involved Kid Cudi and was prominently displayed across social media platforms, with Cudi expressing skepticism about the possibility of them ever rekindling their friendship.
According to Complex, the remarkable turning point came in the form of a heartfelt apology from Kanye West.
“Siblings hurt you the most. So you go through things, but family is always there,” he said about his connection to Kanye. “You don’t give up on family. And I think in the thick of it, when it was going down, I wanted to walk away. I wanted to give up, but in thinking about it the past couple years, it’s like this is someone who is my brother ultimately who came into my life and championed me and did things for me that nobody else did for me early on in my career.”
Cudi further explained that early in his career, Kanye’s support was instrumental as he covered the costs for Cudi’s first major music video “Day ‘n Nite”. Kanye also intervened to ensure the video was shot by director So Me, aligning with Cudi’s vision.
“He’s learning and he’s growing,” Cudi continued. “He knows he made some mistakes and I think that that’s the beauty of it, is this is a beautiful thing. It’s like he knows he’s been on one hell of a ride and he knows he’s said some things that he might not be able to come back from in a lot of realms, in a lot of spaces from certain people. But we grow and I think I pray for him, and that’s my brother.”
As per Variety, Cudi had once indicated that a reconciliation with Kanye would require a significant shift, stating that it would take a miracle, or for Kanye to become a monk, for them to mend their relationship.
Amidst this, the reconciliation transpired without Kanye needing to become a monk. This development paves the way for a potential joint album, signifying the mending of the friendship between Cudi and Kanye. This comes after Cudi managed to sustain a friendship with Pete Davidson, despite Pete dating Kanye’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian.
