A Waterslide Coaster Is Officially Coming To Lake Lanier

The state of Georgia is gearing up to unveil its very first waterslide coaster at Lake Lanier this spring. It seems like a daring move considering the lake’s ominous reputation for making people disappear. Margaritaville at Lake Lanier Islands has officially begun construction on the thrilling new attraction, as reported by PEOPLE.

The upcoming addition to Fins Up Water Park will feature,

“the highly-anticipated Apocalypso—Georgia’s inaugural adrenaline-pumping waterslide coaster that will redefine aquatic excitement.”

Apocalypso might sound like an intense name for a slide next to a lake that has a knack for mysterious happenings. Nonetheless, thrill-seekers can also look forward to trying out other slides like Serpentine Storm, Dreamsicle Dive, and Mango Mania.

The officials at Lake Lanier Islands are looking forward to the multi-million dollar venture. A statement on the resort’s website shares,

“This major investment represents the most significant expansion of Margaritaville at Lanier Islands in years, introducing Georgia’s largest waterslide complex to the water park, featuring an impressive total of 15 slides in 2024.”

Before you get too excited about planning a visit to experience those slides, maybe say a little prayer first.

Last year, there was an announcement of an expansion to the tourist spot, according to PEOPLE. Margaritaville at Lanier Islands’ Vice President, “Bucky” Perry, expressed enthusiasm about the project,

“This thrilling tower of slides, featuring Georgia’s first waterslide coaster, will be a remarkable addition to Margaritaville at Lanier Islands. For those looking for an escape with a full day of high-speed thrills and family-friendly fun, Margaritaville at Lanier Islands is the place to be.”

If you want to take advantage of the discounted St. Patrick’s Day $99 deal for Margaritaville season passes, act fast. Fins Up Water Park will be opening its doors on May 4.
