Draymond Green has shared his thoughts on his NBA suspension, disclosing that he considered retiring before being convinced otherwise by Adam Silver.

Following an indefinite suspension from the NBA, Green is ready to make his comeback to the Golden State Warriors. His reinstatement came after undergoing a month of counseling. This action followed a series of aggressive moves during games, including a notorious incident where he hit Jusuf Nurkic in the head. Despite speculation of it being accidental, Green’s previous actions did not afford him the benefit of the doubt.

According to ESPN, during his suspension, Green admitted to feeling overwhelmed and contemplating retirement until NBA Commissioner Adam Silver intervened and convinced him otherwise.

“I told him, ‘Adam this is too much for me. … This is too much. It’s all becoming too much for me — and I’m going to retire,’” Green said. “And Adam said, ‘You’re making a very rash decision and I won’t let you do that.’”

“We had a long, great conversation — very helpful to me. Very thankful to play in a league with a commissioner like Adam who’s more about helping you than hurting you; helping you than punishing you. He’s more about the players.”

With his suspension now fulfilled, Green is expected to rejoin the team soon. His aggressive style of play reflects an old-school approach that doesn’t always align with today’s standards. One can only hope that during his time out, he has utilized the resources available to him in order to improve. If not, he may find himself in a similar situation in the future.
