At the latest episode of the Red Table Talk, Willow Smith expressed that she had lost her sanity and used to harm herself when she was a kid. Red Table Talk, Jada Pinkett-Smith’s Facebook Watch talk show that stars both, Jada and Willow as well as Jada’s mother, Adrienne Banfield-Jones, had the latest May 14 episode centred on the topic ‘Surviving Loss.’
When Jada asked Willow what the most significant loss she had was, Willow replied and said that she had feelings of self-doubt and pressure during her great song Whip My Hair release in the year 2010.
During the episode, the 17-year-old told her mother and grandmother, “It was after that whole ‘Whip My Hair’ thing, and I had just stopped doing singing lessons, and I was kind of just in this grey area of, ‘Who am I? Do I have a purpose? Is there anything I can do besides this?’”
The young singer said the pressure of being a budding artist, working hard for promotions as well as completing the album began to affect her well being.
“After all of that settled down and there was a lull, I was just listening to a lot of dark music, and it was just so crazy,” she further said.
When her shocked mom asked where she was cutting and harming herself, she showed her the scares that she had on her wrists. However, Willow assured her mother and grandmother that she stopped injuring herself five years ago when one night she just felt like all of ‘this is psychotic.’
Willow said that her half-brother Trey and brother Jaden did not know about all of this and that she had only shared it with one of her friend who kept it a secret.
Notably, Whip My Hair ranked at the second position in the UK and was Willow’s most famous and successful song.
