They are against Harvey Weinstein, says Meryl Streep and Jennifer Lawrence

It seems that Harvey Weinstein is still in trouble as recently given statements by Meryl Streep and Jennifer Lawrence have proved that they are now standing strong against the disgraced film producer. Recently, on Wednesday, the layers of Harvey Weinstein filed a legal response in New York. In the document, they asked to dismiss the alleged sexual harassment lawsuits against him and his company the Weinstein Company and Miramax. Around six women have filed the lawsuits.

They are against Harvey Weinstein, says Meryl Streep and Jennifer Lawrence

While filing the legal response, the producer used names of two well-known actresses, Streep and Lawrence for defence. In the response, they mentioned “Such women would include, Jennifer Lawrence, who stated that she had known Weinstein since she was 20 years old and said ‘he had only ever been nice to me,’ and Meryl Streep, who stated publicly that Weinstein had always been respectful to her in their working relationship.”

However, on the other side, Streep has given some opposite comments in this matter and stated that the use of her statements as a defence is pathetic and exploitative. She stated, “Harvey Weinstein’s attorneys’ use of my true statement, that he was not sexually transgressive or physically abusive in our business relationship as evidence that he was not abusive with many OTHER women is pathetic and exploitative.”

Just after that, Jennifer Lawrence also commented on this matter and stated “Harvey Weinstein and his company are continuing to do what they have always done which is to take things out of context and use them for their own benefit. This is what predators do, and it must stop.” She further stated that even though she has not victimized by Weinstein, she has been standing behind the women who have attacked by Weinstein.

On Thursday, Weinstein issued a statement apologizing Streep and Lawrence for use their names.
