Hugh Dane, who played the role of security guard Hank on the show ‘The Office’, is no more. He was 75 years old. The Los Angeles Inner City Cultural Center announced the news about his death on Facebook. Besides working in ‘The Office’, Dane was also known for his supporting roles in Bridesmaids, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Boy Meets World, among others.
Dane began his acting career in the late 80s when he bagged a role in a video game titled ‘It Came from the Desert.’ However, he earned his first television role when he worked as the Father in the show ‘Hunter’ and made a firm motion in his TV acting career. Although the most longstanding role played by Dane was in ‘The Office’, he also portrayed two characters in the sitcom ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ and recurred in the 90s television series ‘Roc’ by playing the role of Fred.
In his film career, Dane has worked in comedies such as ‘Bridesmaids’ and Little Fockers.’ Besides this, some other roles for which Dane is famous for are in shows such as ‘Everybody Hates Chris,’ ‘Friends,’ ‘Boy Meets World,’ ‘Monk,’ ‘The West Wing,’ and the latest, ‘The Mayor.’ Moreover, Dane also actively participated in theatre productions.
Dane’s co-star in the show ‘The Office’, rain Wilson also paid his tribute on his Twitter handle by writing, “He was one of the greats. So kind, funny, talented. We will all miss him.” He also noted that donations could be made to the Inner City Cultural Center in Dane’s name. “Donations can be made in his name to http://www.innercityculturalcenter.org,” he wrote.
Dane’s other co-star of the show; Steve Careel also took to her Twitter handle and wrote, “What a terrific guy.”
The reason behind Dane’s death is not yet been revealed.
