The Cars’ former frontman, Ric Ocasek and wife, Paulina Porizkova have decided to end their 28 years of marriage. The former supermodel took to social media on Wednesday and shared that the pair, who tied the knot back in 1989, has been “peacefully separated for the past year.”

Ocasek’s wife Porizkova wrote in an Instagram post, “Our family always has been — and still is — a well-built car.”
She went on to write, “When the four of us are together, we can go wherever the road takes us. But as a bicycle, my husband and I no longer pedal in unison. So we’re ditching the bicycle.”
“Ric and I have been peacefully separated for the past year,” Porizkova continued. “The photos of our happy family are, in fact, happy family photos; we are just no longer a couple.”
The 53-year-old actress spoke out about the feeling of love that she and the 74-year-old Ocasek still have for each other. The couple first met while shooting for the music video for The Cars’ song “Drive” back in 1984.
“The love we have for one another is so wide and deep it’s practically tangible, and that sort of love can never disappear,” Porizkova said. “Expect to keep seeing happy family photos.”
She concluded in her Instagram post: “As I’m sure you can understand, out of respect for our children and each other, we’ll not be commenting further (here or elsewhere) at this time.”
The now-former couple, who shares two adult sons together — Jonathan and Oliver — reunited at Ocasek’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction in Cleveland, Ohio, last month.
Both Ocasek and Porizkova were dressed up in sparkly outfits at the event, the couple embraced each other while posing for the cameras together.
