Since the ignominious resignation of Roy Price, the former Studio Head at Amazon in October after sexual harassment cases, the company was searching for a suitable person for the post. Now, Amazon Studios has found its replacement for Roy Price. As per the sources, the NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke is now assigned to the top job at streaming giant Amazon Studios. In the interim, Amazon chief operating officer Albert Cheng took on Price’s duties. Sources say the company interviewed Salke and Nancy Dubuc, Chairman and CEO of A+E Networks. Later, Dubuc withdrew from the process on Thursday.
Jeff Blackburn, Senior Vice president business development and entertainment at Amazon stated, “What stood out about Jen was the deep relationships she has nurtured with creators and talent over her career, spanning NBCU, 20th Century Fox, and Aaron Spelling Productions.”
As per the sources, Salke will report directly to Blackburn, IndieWire reports, and Brad Beale, VP of worldwide television acquisition. She will also supervise film and television.
Expressing her excitement Salke stated “I’m incredibly excited about the future at Amazon Studios. In the studio’s relatively short existence they have innovated, disrupted and created characters that are already an indelible part of pop culture.”
Talking more about the former NBC’s entertainment president, she has been working with NBC since 2011 and she has a lot of experience in the entertainment sector. She has some nice collection of hit shows like This Is Us, Modern Family, and Glee which shows heart and diverse storytelling. This Is Us is the first network family drama, Modern Family based on the storyline of family-comedy which shows a story of a gay couple, their relationship and marriage, and the story of Glee is all about the high-school food chain. If Amazon wants more popularity from critics and viewers, then Salke seems well positioned to achieve that target.
