And we know, McCartney was referring to John Lennon of course, who was killed by a gunman outside the Dakota apartment building on New York’s Upper West Side on December 8, 1980, blocks from where the people who are standing up for gun safety gathered today to start their march downtown following the nationwide March For Our Lives in the capital of the United States.

New York is one of over 800 cities around the world where marches will take place, coordinating with the massive Washington D.C. March For Our Lives event. Today’s marching event will be covered extensively on TV.

Celebs took to social media in order to show their support, the White House also released the following statement.

The statement read, “We applaud the many courageous young Americans exercising their First Amendment rights today. Keeping our children safe is a top priority of the President’s, which is why he urged Congress to pass the Fix NICS and STOP School Violence Acts, and signed them into law.” The statement continued,  “Additionally, on Friday, the Department of Justice issued the rule to ban bump stocks following through on the President’s commitment to ban devices that turn legal weapons into illegal machine guns.”

However, President Donald Trump had not write anything on the topic from Mar-A-Lago, where he is currently spending the weekend far away from the Washington D.C. March For Our Lives event, but he did write about yesterday’s terrorist attack in France. Trump tweeted, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of the horrible attack in France yesterday, and we grieve the nation’s loss. We also condemn the violent actions of the attacker and anyone who would provide him support. We are with you @EmmanuelMacron!”
