Ronnie Ortiz-Magro and Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola’s on-again, the off-again relationship has ended up after being eight years together, in which three years were filmed on the original run of Jersey Shore from 2009 to 2012.
The star cast is back with its new season named Jersey Shore Family Vacation, except the 31-year-old Sammi, who removed from the show in order to avoid “potentially toxic situations.”
She said on Instagram, “I’m at a completely different place in my life right now focusing on my businesses and my relationship.”
However, Sammi’s absence on the show was the main focus of Thursday’s two-hour season premiere, with the 32-year-old Ronnie finally broke the silence and speaking out about what eventually tore them apart for good.
He said, “Once we left the shore house, me and Sam decided we were going to take the next step — we moved in with each other.” He continued, “And we were getting towards that stage where it was like, I either have to s— or get off the pot.”
“She gave me a timeline. She was like, I want to get married in six months — and I’m still trying to figure my life out,” he went on to say. “I got cold feet. I wanted to do the right thing, but there was a part of me that was like, ‘I’m not going to do the right thing.’ So I didn’t do it. I ended up cheating, she found out. I blew it. It’s over.”
For those who aren’t aware, Sammi is not the only star who has been moved; at the time of filming the episode, Ronnie’s girlfriend named Jen Harley was seven-month pregnant. The happy couple welcomed a baby girl on Tuesday.
He said confiding in his co-star Pauly “DJ Pauly D” DelVecchio, “It’s not the most ideal situation, but what is?” He added, “I’ll always be a s—ty husband, I’ll always be a s—ty boyfriend, but I’ll never be a s—ty father.”
