On Thursday night, at the first preview of the new Broadway musical version of “Frozen”, Elsa did not quite “Let it Go”. About 200 people jammed the sidewalks of the St. James Theater in New York. Many fans had purchased tickets nearly four months ago. Women, teenagers, toddlers began were seen entering the theatre at a quarter till 8.
An accountant, Yuki Kunishi reached the city wearing an Elsa dress accompanied by her boyfriend Charlie Omacer. The couple had been waiting since last year August for Disney to announce the sale of tickets for the Broadway musical version of “Frozen”. Kunishi had lost the count as to how many times she has watched the Oscar-winning 2013 animated movie based on a story of a queen who accidentally plunges her kingdom into winter and her brave sister who crosses all the boundaries to reach and save her.
Kunishi said, “It’s all magical, fantastical.” On the other hand, Omacer said that he has always “liked the Disney stuff” but after he came into a relationship with Kunishi three years ago, it became a mandatory thing.
“Frozen” remains to be the highest-grossing animated film of all time that has made a $1.2billion worldwide since its release in the year 2013. The original creative team-composers Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez and the writer Jennifer Lee reunited the scenes of the film and featured 12 new original sons total to adapt the film for the Broadway.
After the sold-out audience had taken in the entire act, a snowy paper fell from the ceiling during the curtain call which was when someone from the crowd implored, “Can that start all over again?”
There were many vendors selling Elsa, Anna and Olaf plush dolls, orb jewellery boxes, coronation bracelets and logo gloves, magnets and keychains. Indeed, it was one of the best adaptations showcased at the Broadway.
