Reports say Disney has announced that the Game of Thrones showrunners will come to the Star Wars universe. After that announcement, a Disney investor has asked Disney why the production house is now making series of films instead of a new TV show.
Recently, Bob Iger, CEO of Disney has spoken about this and revealed that Disney is currently in the process of developing a few different series and all are based on the Star Wars franchise. After the completion of the project, Disney will announce about this very soon.
Iger said, “We are close to revealing one of the entities that are developing a Star Wars series for us but we can’t at this point in time because the deal isn’t done.”
Disney first announced that they were working on a project to create a live-action series on the Star Wars galaxy for its new streaming service. As per the sources, the news streaming service will be launched in late 2019. Now, Iger has revealed that multiple series were in the process.
It is also said that Star Wars Rebels is also in the work and is all set to wrap up in a couple of months.
Dave Filoni, the Executive producer has been informed that he is hard at work on a follow. Another big question is that what channel or platform the series will exist on. Some sources informed that Disney’s upcoming streaming service would be the odds-on favorite, but Hulu is running on the top of the list. If Disney’s 21st Century Fox’s entertainment assets go through, it will become the major company to have a majority ownership stake in the streaming platform.
Disney may prefer to go ahead with one or two different programs i.e., a live-action series and an animated series. However, for now, people are waiting for Disney’s new streaming service.
