The network has officially fired Crawford, who plays the role of Martin Riggs in the series after several reports of bad behaviour on the sets, which were confirmed to be true later. For the third season, Crawford would be replaced by American Pie actor Seann William Scott as an all-new character; marking is first lead role on a prime-time television show. Scott’s character will be seen folding into a partnership with Roger Murtaugh, played by Damon Wayans. It is believed that Scott’s character may play the role of Riggs’ brother, thus keeping Riggs’ name in the show.

The show’s producer, Warner Bros. Television said in a statement that it has decided not to renew Crawford’s contract for the show. Fox, however, did not say anything about how they will be handling the departure of the character played by Crawford.

The entire situation of Crawford’s bad behaviour came into public view in late April, when many reports of the actor’s history of bad behaviour on the sets of ‘Lethal Weapon” came forward, that eventually resulted in him being disciplined many times due to emotional abuse complaints and for making a hostile environment on sets.

Crawford later on April 24, took to his Instagram handle and apologised if his ‘passion for doing good work has ever made anyone feel less than comfortable on our set, or feel less than celebrated for their efforts. He continued, “Furthermore, I apologize to all the crew and cast for any negative attention Lethal Weapon is receiving because of these incidents.”

Crawford’s on-set altercation had left ‘Lethal Weapons”, which is known as one of the better performings shows on Fox network, on the bubble as several people knowing the situation said that the actors of the, including Wayans do not wish to work with Crawford anymore.
