As known, this year Golden Globes Awards ceremony held on Sunday was based on female empowerment, going the recent success of the #MeToo and Time’s up movement. In the annual award ceremony, the majority of female actresses were seen wearing black colored outfits to support the Time’s Up Movement. But German model Barbara Meier did not opt for black clothing at the ceremony. She even explained the reason behind her decision in her Instagram post.
The model, 31 years old posted a photo of herself wearing a floral gown just before attending the award show on Sunday. In the caption, she explained the reason why she chose not to wear black and said that her choice of different clothing does not mean that she is not supporting the campaign.
“If we want this to be the Golden Globes of the strong women who stand up for their rights, I think, it’s the wrong way not to wear any sexy clothes anymore or let people take away our joy of showing our personality through fashion,” she wrote in the caption. She continued and wrote that she chose to dress up a little sexier and she believes that by not doing so “because some men can’t control themselves” is “a huge step back in my opinion.”
The other actress who also opted to wear outfits other than black color at the awards ceremony includes Meher Tatna, Foreign Press Association President, and actress Blanca Blanco. Notably, Blanco walked the red carpet wearing a sexy fire-engine red gown with a slit up to her left hip and a huge chest-cut-out that exposed her cleavage. Even though she said that she is a supporter of the Times Up movement, many people accused her of breaking the black dress code by wearing a racy red gown.
As for Tatna, her sources said that she wore a dress that she selected along with her mom. As a part of her Indian culture, it’s believed that a festive color should be worn during a celebration.
