The TV series Big Little Lies is officially going to make a comeback. But there will also be a new entrant in the show as the creators are planning to introduce a new character in the series.

A new character will be reportedly be added in ‘Big Little Lies’ Season 2

Jean-Marc Vallée, Executive producer of the show, said that he would be handling the directorial reins over to Andrea Arnold in the second season. But this does not mean that he has not planned up more secrets. While answering a question of the media at the Sunday’s Golden Globes Award ceremony, Vallée teased and said, “Well there’s a new character coming. Perry’s mother, that’s all I can say.”

In the show, Perry is shown as the abusive husband of Nicole Kidman’s Celeste. Alexander Skarsgard plays the character. Perry’s death at the hands of Bonnie is the big reveal of the season one final episode. But there is little known about his family. Also, it is yet to be seen whether his mother is a character the women will encounter in the present day or maybe it will be shown in flashbacks.

The one actress who could probably do justice to this role is Michelle Pfeiffer who is mostly going to be a part of the TV series crew, seeing as her husband, David E. Kelly is the one who executive produces the show. But she did not confirm about her being a part of the show’s second season. When asked on the red carpet about the same, she said, “I don’t think so. Nobody’s asked me.”

Vallée directed each episode of the Big Little Lies first season. But presently he is keeping busy as he is committed to directing another HBO miniseries adaptation- Sharp Objects. However, he assured his fans that he is leaving the show in good hands of Andrea Arnold who helmed Cannes jury winner American Honey in the recent days.
